I am a first time user of a honing rod, and very pleasantly surprised.I watched some YouTubes to know that a honing rod does not remove material (much) in order to sharpen knives. It just realigns the microscopic “teeth” to make them better at slicing. This honing rod worked wonders on knives that I had dulled on a cheap knife sharpener.
