Best of its kind, with some notes on how to use a tent.First, this won’t/shouldn’t be your only tent. This thing is amazing for quick car camping overnights with the kids, when time is of the essence. We use it most for single nights on the lake when taking the time to set up & break down a full camp would be impractical, or for those overnight stops en route to a final destination. Its great on the beach as a sun shelter (you’d have to purchase sand anchors for it, but all serious campers looking for 5 star experiences from big-box stock tents should always upgrade stakes. It’s a given people. Don’t deduct stars because the stakes are flimsy. They’re all the same out of the box, in my experience). The other universal given is that all 4 person tents are actually 2 person tents. We’ve fit me & my husband (2 moderately large people) in here with our 4 year old reasonably comfortably when the (yes awkward) fly is off, with me only having one panic attack in there with the fly on. Not bad for the size of this thing. As for that panic attack I noted a few things:1. With 3 people in this thing and the rain fly on, I suspect it’s too tight for adequate ventilation. It’s a very tight fitting fly and there are no windows accessible on the inside, plus it’s a weird two layer door. If it were raining and I HAD to be in there with the rest of the family, I’d have been in the car. Or my hammock, my preferred camping mode. But we buy this thing is for the speed when hanging hammocks would be impractical. As for condensation, idk because we’ve only used it in mild weather, but all signs point to it being a nightmare.2. The floor will leak if you put it on a tarp. Like just about all tents with or without a bathtub bottom. Tarps should never be visible below your tent because the rain will puddle onto your tarp and pool below the tent, unable to seep into the ground. There are ways to place a tent on a tarp, but none of them should be visible once the tent is on it.3. I don’t know who’s knocking off stars because this thing doesn’t fit an air mattress, but yeah. There’s no way you want to try to put a Walmart-purchased air mattress in here. Use a sleeping pad. The hikenture double inflatable pad is amazing. Foam mats are fine enough. Not a 2 foot high mattress.4. I’m buying a second one to make a sort of small-tent compound for extended use as the main tent of the trip. The problem of the useless door in the rain is solved by placing either a tarp or a canopy over the door. We will flank a 10×10 ez up canopy with two of these tents, maybe a tarp too, thus comfortably sleeping 4 and protecting us from the rain, all while maintaining a 5 min set up time.5. After the third try I can fold this thing up perfectly the first time. Takes practice cause it’s huge.6. Don’t take this thing wildernesses camping. It’s tempting, I know, but just don’t. Wrong application here, it will fail you in every way.So as a car camping tool for speed and convenience, this thing gets a solid 4 stars, 4.5 if possible. As a primary family tent, I’d give it 3 stars because it can’t function on its own due to door/window/rain fly design issues & will require a canopy or tarp in less than ideal weather. As a backpacking tent, just no. Overall it is one of my most used outdoor items, next to my Hennessy expedition, but that’s mostly cause I can hang the Hennessy for a quick nap were I can see the house, but they can’t find me. This pop up tent gets a zero for stealth, lol.

Great for Fast CampingSo far I have enjoyed this tent! It’s quick to setup and put away. Something to note is that the base is oval shaped so if you try to use a two person sleep pad it won’t fit. I tried it on my first trip out with it and found that out very quickly. If you hate setting up conventional tents then this is the tent for you. I think eventually I will replace this one with a conventional tent since the footprint is more efficient, but as of right now this tent is working just fine.

awesomeperfect for short camp trips. sets up in seconds. Still have to try it in rain. So far, highly recommended.

Great Tent with its LimitationsMy Coleman Pop-Up just arrived and I have to say I am impressed. After reading all the negative comments about the quality and difficulty putting it away I was skeptical. However, the quality is on par for what it is intended to be, a simple easy overnight fair weather tent for families. As a boy scout leader and life long hiker and camper I have seen all manner of tents over the years (currently have 4) and all in all this is a good option for the novice or family looking for a quick easy solution to camping in a tent. I was looking for a quick easy tent for weekend camping when I cant use my hammock.PROS:Light and easy to put up. (However, not really a hiking tent. Packed, its a large circle that’s about 32 inches across.)Everything you need in one package, stakes, rain fly, etc.Good Size for TWO (2) adults or One adult and One child. There is NO WAY you are getting 4 adults into this tent. Maybe 4, 5-10 year olds. Perfect for a couple of Cub Scouts.Lots of ventilation screening. This is most definitely a PRO since condensation at the peak of the tent can be a problem with multiple people in a tent.Free standing, the design allows it to be set up with no need to stake it down to make it stay up.Folds up flat with no bulky bag.CONS:You will need 2 cheap tarps. (One to go under the tent and one to cover the inside on the floor. The floor material is thinner than expected but a tarp covering the floor took care of any concerns I had about tearing the floor from the outside or having a cot rub a hole in the material. )It is short inside. You will not be standing up inside as an adult but most backpacking tents have his downfall.Addressing Other Negative Comments:Zipper Being Too Tight to Zip- Apparently people are stretching the tent out lengthwise before they put the stakes into the ground. That was the only way I could get any tension in the zipper. Simply open the tent and put the stakes in the ground exactly where the loops end up.Hard To Put Away- It comes with 4 step picture instructions that are simple and easy and in English and Spanish and there are tons of YouTube videos. Posted Comment: ” Myself and 4 adult men couldn’t get it back in the bag.” If you by yourself let alone with 4 other adults cant put this tent back in the bag and cant follow any of these instructions without breaking the poles, you probably should not be out in the woods anyway. If a true emergency were to arise I am pretty sure you’re not going to make it home.Quality: Boys and Girls it is a $70 tent, if you’re climbing K-12 or camping in the Amazon this is not the tent for you. (I doubt any of the people complaining have the capability to do either anyway) If you’re taking the family to the park for the weekend or your younger scouts for an overnight, its perfect. Experienced campers know how to work around these minor shortfalls so see above. In summary, its a great little tent for car camping or quick 2-3 night scout camping. Good for two adults or 4 younger kids. Know its limitations and accept them. Dont wait to set it up for the first time once you’re in the woods. Practice makes perfect! Lastly, be careful when opening for the first time, it is under tension! Only let one ring go at a time, otherwise you may get a face full of tent and a fat lip to remind you to be more careful next time.Happy Camping and Leave NO Trace.

Faulty design, awkward warranty applicationAbout the tentLove the principle, love the easy set up (pouf! tent up!)But, the zipper broke the first use.We just installed the tent, tightening it properly with the stakes and so on, to avoid problems with heavy winds. The tent looked award, there was way too much pressure on the doors. We loosened it a little, which made us fear for the wind.Even with loosening the tent, the door was still a little pulledResult: It did have problems with the wind, and the door zipper eventually broke. Not what we expect from Coleman… I guess we got the lemon in the batch…About the warranty:Coleman US was fast to answer, but had me writing on the tent and sending pictures before realising I was in Canada, so I had to contact Coleman Canada.Coleman Canada took more than 1,5 month to answer. They first said that it was not a Coleman Canada product, so that they cannot repair or replace it.They eventually offered me my choice of Coleman Canada 4 persons tents.Just so canadian buyers know, the Coleman tents on Amazon are Coleman US tents, but we are covered by Coleman Canada warranty, which makes for awkward situations. If you have problems with a product, and you still have Amazon recourses, don’t be a fool like me, and first contact Amazon, not Coleman 😉
