Demerbox=Demer Rocks! The media could not be loaded.

Well….I was reluctant to spend this kind of dough on a speaker, but bit the proverbial bullet . I needed a speaker that was waterproof , could easily hold my phone and essentials on class 1-3 water as well as recreational. Got it on a friday ,fully charged it, and left for the water . I played it around the campsite for about 4-5 hours friday night , charged my phone and played it for about 5 hours on Saturday until the weather broke . Then, my wife took it on a 4 hour kayak ride while I stayed at camp. My wife came back with 2 leds still lit, about 25% or so. Charged a friends iphone for about 30 minutes , and then played some more music for about 2 hrs. Decided to charge it a little while a friend broke out his guitar. Come Sunday afternoon , i turned it back on for smoked pizzas in the backyard after charging my phone on the 1 hr ride home and its showing 3 leds or, more than 50%. All in all, for a camp/travel speaker , I honestly do not think you can get any better . A 1300 pelican case is 60$, 2 8ohm rubber/waterproof drivers are 20-30$ , a class d bluetooth amp board is 20-40$, good 18650 batteries are a couple of bucks a piece but you really need a good spot welder for electronics to do it correctly (100-200$) . Then , you’ll have to make foolproof cuts, wire it ,and make your own custom bass hole. Add it up. Sound , I’ll give it 4 stars , loud enough for 15 at camp with no issue , but you’ll be able to carry on a conversation so long as your not standing right beside it. No issues with bluetooth connectivity popping , bass is excellent without the bass port plugged in, and still good with it in. Treble is fine as well . Played rock, rap, and country on it . No issues so far . Just wished it was a hair louder , but I like to jam! Battery life, I dont even know how they do it. Their amp board must pull virtually no amps. Storage capacity , 5 stars . Plenty of room for 2 phones , car keys , wallet , and a sandwich.I attached a little video of the speaker playing with charging cables inside it .Update: 07/09/2019Took it to the jobsite with me today as a lunchbox . Never failed , started at 7am with 3 leds lit(I suppose a bit over 50%) and it had two by the time we shutdown for lunch (lunch was at 1230 or so) on full volume . Couldnt hear much when were running skid steer, but the speaker was over 20 ft away and the skidder was right beside us. So, this speaks now fulfilled my wants as a work speaker as well!

Not the best speaker, but great for what it’s made for.If you consider the application this is built for, it’s great. For sound quality, I’d take my Bose speaker over it anytime. This has faint crackle and pops, but when outdoors you’ll likely not notice. I’ve found the Bluetooth connection finicky and annoyingly I often have to make my phone forget the previous version of the Bluetooth connection, restart the Demerbox and pair my phone to it over again. When connecting it to my iPad to watch a movie, I’ll notice a lag in the sound by about 1/2 a second compared to the picture, though I’ve noticed that pausing and waiting a short time, this will go away mostly. And the biggest drawback? It is very overpriced! (Fortunately I got it on a little bit of a sale)So why do I still like it? The battery life is amazing, and absolutely perfect for what this is built for. I honestly wanted to hate it at first because of the price and the sound quality, but after camping with it and using it for 3 full days and also using it to charge my phone fully, I still had 3 of the 5 LED lights illuminated which indicates the battery life. Also, it is plenty loud enough to enjoy outside, which I can’t say too many portable speakers do well (my Bose soundlink also does great for volume). Taking this on extended camping trips and using it while floating down the river so everyone can have a little music and it keeps the important stuff dry is definitely a win.I’ve still not seen anyone else with one of these, so I haven’t yet been able to link up multiple Demerbox to one phone and test that feature, but it’s a very interesting concept if works well. Now I have the larger 2 speaker version, so my review is based on that. Can’t speak for the battery and volume of the smaller.I have to also add that I was disappointed that it doesn’t come with the compartments inside the case that you often see it having in the pictures. I knew it wasn’t supposed to come with it and that you have to buy that elsewhere, but again, for the price point of this thing I really think that could have been included.

Frustratingly problematicTLDR: nice box, good sound; serious design flaws, insane price point.DemerBox made a good product: It sounds excellent for such a small unit, the case is tough as hell (tip of the hat to Pelican), the waterproofing* works as described, carrying this around is effortless, you can daisy chain units to suit your surround sound or PA system needs, and all around looks like it means business. That being said…There is simply not enough volume from the box. I wouldn’t bat an eye if the unit weighed more because of a modified battery and preamp. With all volume settings maxed, the low end acoustics hold up, but the mid and high range are distorted, if not all out blown. It’s definitely not enough sound for an outdoor workspace or construction area, let alone a parking lot.All the added weight of the unit is in the lid-half of the box, so sitting it upright with the handle on top is a guaranteed faceplant. No counter balance = critical design flaw. That essentially eliminates the ability to direct the sound without babysitting the box. Additionally, adding anything inside to counterbalance muffles the sound which further reduces the output volume. The battery life is good for middle or low volume, but with high output, it will obviously shorten the battery life. Again, a larger battery wouldn’t hurt my feelings.Lastly, my particular unit experiences intermittent audio drops, especially when oriented with the speakers face up. Fortunately, DemerBox has excellent customer service and warranty. I sent mine off for repairs, and it came back with the same issue, plus loose internal components! They have offered to replace my unit at no cost to me.That’s a lot of bitching and bashing, I know. But let’s be realistic: this is not a cheap piece of equipment. Granted, mine has taken its share of abuse, been played at full blast for hours on end, and taken a tumble or two on its face. For the price point, this thing should be rock solid dependable. If not for the customer service, I would return this faulty unit and not look back.I hope your experience is better than mine, but it all depends on your expectations from the advertisement I guess.

Disappointing soundI wanted to love this. The style is awesome. The fact that’s it’s also a little dry box is awesome. The battery life is awesome. But the sound is just average. And I was willing to accept average sound for how cool it was until I put it next to a turtle box. The turtle box sound is so much better. High volume low volume doesn’t matter turtle box sound is just superior. So even though I wanted to keep the demerbox cuz it looks so damn cool had to return it and keep the turtle box.

Coolest/Best Speaker on the marketThis speaker is awesome. Expensive for a Bluetooth speaker? Yes. Worth it? Yes, yes, yes!If you’re comparing the sound quality to an upper level Bose or equivalent Bluetooth speaker then you may be a little disappointed. These speakers aren’t water proof and incredibly durable like the Demerbox is though. The treble leaves some to be desired but that is characteristic of water proof rubber speakers. This isn’t a dealbreaker at all though. While it isn’t the clearest speaker in the world, it makes up for it with punchy bass and solid mids, not to mention it can get super loud. I had a Big Jambox and it gets louder than the big jambox could. When the speaker is turned all the way up it doesn’t crackle at all. The sound is perfect all the way up. We used it on a boat while tubing and were able to jam out to good tunes even with the 150hp Mercury revved all the way up.The added feature of a Bluetooth charging port is absolutely clutch. We easily can jam out all day with the super long battery life and then have the phone charging at the same time inside the speaker while maintaining waterproof status with the plug installed. I threw the speaker in the water with my phone in it and it didn’t leak a drop and sounded cool reverberating on the water. My favorite part beside the killer battery life which will easily last you a week or more on a single charge depending on how many times you charge your phone, is the ease of use. This speaker has 1 button. You turn it on and it links up with your phone instantly. You can control the volume completely from your phone and don’t have to worry about turning your phone up and then dealing with another volume on the speaker too. Literally just turn it on and start jamming. Nothing to it.One last feature I love is the long range Bluetooth. I was jamming in the backyard, went inside to do some stuff and had my phone in my pocket and my friends said it never lost connection at all. I haven’t gone to the point where it disconnected yet.Overall, you have to decide what you’re going to use the speaker for. I am on the water and outdoors all the time, fishing, wake boarding, bbqing, etc and this is perfect for that all weather rig. If you plan to use your speaker inside and don’t plan to move it then id say go get a bose. If durability and practicality aren’t a need then get a bose. If you want to jam out with all your buddies and get sweet sound quality in literally any situation you find yourself in and plan to ever listen to your tunes near water or outside…. get the Demerbox. It’s the only speaker I use now and I have a few other ones. Super sound and solid construction (I break everything) make this the one for me. You won’t be disappointed.

Accurate Sound. Long Bluetooth distanceThe problem I have with 99% of the portable speakers on the market is that the output is over-processed and inaccurate as they attempt to get more bass and volume than the little speakers can muster. This is especially true for outdoor/waterproof speakers. I would rather have silence than listen to distorted music. The Demerbox, on the other hand, sounds clean and about as accurate as one can expect from a waterproof speaker over bluetooth and it does so from low volume all the way to max. I attribute some of this to the size of the speaker (i.e., larger speaker cones than many and a larger box cavity) but it takes more than that to make good sound and they seem to have gotten it right. It also sounds terrific with the bass port plug installed, just with less bass.Another issue I have with most bluetooth speakers is lack of connection distance. With my phone in my pocket I typically cannot get more than 20 feet before they start dropping out. It makes them nearly useless for working if I want my phone at my side. If I take my phone out of my pocket they work at longer distance. I haven’t fully tested the Demerbox but I was able to get more than 60ft outside with no dropouts with my phone in my pocket and facing away from the speaker. I didn’t try further so I do not know the limit. This was a quick test; I have not yet used it while working (bending, turning etc.) and it was clear line of site other than my body being in the way. This latest version, the DB2 has a battery level indicator on the front, which is apparently something new since the many reviews I read prior to purchasing. After using it a while, my only complaint, as such, is it is not as loud as I was hoping. I deducted one point for this.

Great for a large pool partyYou wouldn’t expect that such a small speaker would pack this kind of power or sound quality, but it does. Recently used it at a large pool party playing music with plenty of vocals – and it performed well. I love the battery life and the extra space to put my phone inside the case to protect it. I wouldn’t say the sound quality is as high as say a Sonos speaker, but anything but an audiophile wouldn’t know the difference. For an outing, the quality of this speaker is perfect. It is a simple device – volume and power on outside, plug for power on the inside. You aren’t really intended to power the device from a plug while the speaker is in use. It also doesn’t feel very high tech – the charger is pretty basic and they even warn you not to keep it plugged in after it has been fully charged otherwise you’ll ruin the battery. A small trade off to be aware of.

Very Durable Speaker BoxHaving had this item since last August, (over 7 months), it is time for a full review of this product. It is my main music and radio speaker while on farm and woodland projects, has been subjected to rough treatment, (banged around hard and dropped from 6 ft.+ many times to hard ground) and left out in damp, sometimes light rain and left on for hours at a time and honestly, after all this time it still performs well with no sound distortion or loss. Battery life is and always has been well above any comparable product. I love the storage box, perfect to put your phone, keys, smoke, etc. in secure from the weather. The few problems with the box are; 1st-It is Top Heavy. It will not sit up without being propt up with something. I find it better to hang on something otherwise it will eventually fall over left to itself, EVERY TIME.2nd-It for sure is not a ‘Boom Box’. The maximum volume is good at best. It WILL NOT blast you away but is acceptable for my situation.3rd- I wish there was a way to recharge it without the provided AC cord. I need to be able to charge via 12 circuits. Otherwise, as said before, a great portable sound system. Even with the few problems I still give the DemerBox FIVE Stars.+++++That said, it was an expensive investment that over time has and hopefully will continue to perform at present level. Great Product Mr. Demer!!

From happy to disappointed to happy again!Well as happy as I was to receive this bluetooth speaker the happiness was short lived! I fully charged it then linked it to my iPhone 11 pro max and immediately noticed, while a song is playing and I select a different song, the new song will play for about 2 seconds then cut off completely! I checked my phone and the song is still playing yet the speaker is in LaLaLand! I have to stop the playback and resume it on the phone for the speaker to start playing again! I tried 2 iPhones and 1 samsung note 9 and they all did the exact same thing! Even my cheapest $10 bluetooth speaker does not do this! I contacted Amazon support and they tried to contact Demerbox customer support on a 3 way call to no avail! If worse comes to worse I will just return it! I’ve only owned it for a mare 6 days! Other than that, the battery life is incredible and the sound is pretty good for what it is! If the problem gets solved, I’ll give this a greater review but for now I’ll leave be!UPDATE: So I went through Amazon and returned the Demerbox as a defective unit and they sent me a replacement right away! The replacement works great and I am once again happy!

Worth it but priced too highI ordered this because I like to camp and my current bluetooth speaker doesn’t have the battery life I need for a weekend in the wild. I wanted something rugged, had good battery life, and good sound. I have not had a chance to take it camping yet but I have had a chance to run it through some tests here at the house. The speaker I am currently using is a JBL Extreme. I love the JBL, it has awesome sound but it only have about 4 hours of battery at anything over medium volume. Plus it is not as rugged as I would like it to be as I am going down a river in a boat. The Demer Box advertises 40 hour battery time which I find amazing, If it doesn’t live up to that claim I will update my review. The Demer box is tough as advertised. The Pelican case is very strong and is everything I could wish for. I feel confident it could take whatever I throw at it while I am camping. It’s range is as advertised also as I was able to get about 100 feet away from it before it started losing signal. It is simple and easy to use. I would like to see a battery indicator but I think that is a common complaint. The sound is good but a little less full than my JBL. It doesn’t distort all the way up to my almost full volume. At full volume it does start to distort, especially with heavier rock. It is loud but not as loud as I would have hoped. All in all I am looking forward to using it for camping. In my initial opinion I am not sure it is worth the price because the sound is not what I would have hoped it would be for that price.
