ANATOMY OF A PELICAN STORM CASE
The Pelican Storm Case
You have equipment to protect, and a Pelican Storm Case is the best way to do it. Why? It’s all about the resin. But the real proof is in the bragging rights that come with survival. Because to a Pelican Storm Case, whether falling from the helicopter, crashing down class V rapids or taking a hit in the center lane of the New Jersey turnpike is all in a day’s work.
Lightweight and rugged, the Pelican Storm Case is the result of years of perfecting and testing in both the laboratory and the field. From the proprietary HPX plastic resin that is tough during low-temperature impact testing, to the patented Press and Pull latch that opens easily, every facet of these lightweight cases has been created to defend your vital gear.
The Pelican Storm Case has been designed to meet or exceed military testing requirements. Many are airline size appropriate, and all are internationally shippable.
Storm Case Features
Molded In Lockable Hasps
Twin mating hasp holes on the rim of the case allow attachment of padlocks to keep your gear in and thieves out. And check out Pelican’s TSA approved cable padlock. Now you can check your baggage with confidence while flying in the USA. The Travel Security Agency has the key, and you have the combination.
Press and Pull Latches
These smooth-opening, dependable, patented latches hold tight under pressure and impact despite fast-opening performance. Tested to over 400 pounds, yet open with a simple release button.
Rugged In-Line Wheels
Shielded from dust, dirt and other contaminants – ball bearing wheels provide low-friction, low-drag rolling with retractable handles for easy movement of heavy loads.
Resilient HPX
Lightweight, durable, impact resistant HPX shell.
Double-Layer, Soft-Grip Handles
When the weather goes south you’ll find a secure grip that won’t slip. An in-tool vulcanizing process over-molds the grips to the polymer handle for a lifetime of dependable performance.
Vortex Pressure Release Valve
The built-in technology of Pelican Storm Cases automatic pressure equalization valve is also a patented feature. Air travel prevents vacuum lock to make opening the case natural even after extreme altitude changes. At the same time, the microscopic filter blocks water molecules and dust particles so your gear stays clean in the Gobi and dry on the Nile.
Rounded Deflective Corners
The corners of a Pelican Storm Case deflect and absorb impact, dispensing kinetic energy throughout the case to ensure contents remain safe drop after drop.

Pelican cases rock!Best of the best. Be sure to keep the foam pieces you don’t use so you can use it again for other things you put inside your box!

Mine came with foam.I actually bought this for myself as an early Christmas present. My only concern was that there were a couple of reviews saying that their cases didn’t come with foam, which would make it more expensive to have to purchase that separately. However, mine did include the foam, so they seem to have fixed the problem if there was one at some point with that.It appears to be sturdy and very well made; I expect it will be more than sufficient for my purposes. I wanted a good, solid super rugged case that was suitable for air travel and all weather types and this definitely fits the bill. The latches weren’t something I was used to as I have never owned a Pelican case before, so it was a bit odd to press the button while pulling the latch, but it ended up being easier to open than I suspected while also giving me confidence that it won’t be easily jostled open by accident. I actually bought the storm variety Pelican case over the Pelican 1200 that I was also considering after reading reviews that mentioned that these latches were a bit better in that respect.I was really impressed with the quality of this case and I think this is a very good investment. Even though it might seem a bit pricy for just being a case, it appears to be worth every penny and I expect to get many good years of use out of it. I also love that it is made in the USA and I wish more companies would take as much pride in their work to make quality products like this rather than things that fall apart and constantly have to be repurchased. If I ever need another case like this, I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another one just like it and I would highly recommend it to others.

A must for protecting valuable equipment!I’m using this case for my Luna Optics night vision binoculars. Absolutely necessary for high end gear of this type.My only regret is that I didn’t buy the next larger size, so that I could have also had room to store my rechargeable battery brick.

The Perfect size for a mirrorless camera and accessoriesI was in need of a tough camera case that I could trust to be watertight for kayaking. The Pelican Storm iM2050 case worked out perfectly for my needs.Things that comfortably fit:1. Sony a6500 body with any lens attached up to the E 18–200 mm F3.5-6.3 OSS, which is a fairly large lens.2. An additional lens if I need a good prime for landscape opportunities.3. Two additional batteries for extended outings.4. Extra memory cards.5. The camera battery charger fits inside of the 18-200 lens hood, which also fits (see attached images).I don’t really need the charger while kayaking, but it’s nice that it also fits in this case if I want to take a small camera kit with me on a quick trip. Overall, this case works perfect for my application. It actually stores even more than I thought it would, plus the fit and finish is excellent which is typical of all Pelican cases. I especially like the press-and-pull latches so there’s no way of unintentionally opening the case. I also really like the pick-and-pluck foam that it comes with. The pick-and-pluck foam made it extremely easy to customize the case to my specific gear, which only took about 10 minutes. Every thing has a nice snug fit, and nothing shifts around at all as I move the case around. I feel like I could drop the case without any need to fear damaging the equipment stored inside. It’s a very secure and watertight case for sensitive camera gear and I’m glad I purchased it.I also bought this tether so I can attach it to my kayak just in case of an incident, and it works great for this application:https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01KI8TW5C/

If your serious about your gearStill good quality with this company. It’s still what you use when you want real protection for your equipment. Expensive but isn’t what you are trying to protect. I use this one to store my game camera and the gear for it.

Why change? This new series of cases show all the quality of the older Pelican cases. The change was moving the latches to the sides instead of the front. Yes, they pop open easier but I always trusted that loud “Snap” when the old latches engaged.

Safe and secureThe case was a perfect fit for a large arbor salt water fly reel and one extra spool, laid flat. The ‘pluck and pull’ foam cubes work well, even for a circular item. Am about to put it to the test, traveling out of the country to fish the flats of the western Caribbean. The case fits in my carry-on, but on the plane or boat or everywhere in between I feel secure that it (several hundred dollars worth of machined aluminum) isn’t getting smashed, bent and abused. One of the main pieces of equip you can’t do without so far from home. Pretty reasonable cost/investment for that kind of concern. All my Pelican cases have worked that way-keeping all contents safe and secure from here to wherever.

Case without foam 😡My product arrived ok, on time but it’s not the product it advertises to be. It arrived without interior foam even when the titled soecifies it has cubed foam, so its practically useless to protect my equipment. Really disappointed.Mi producto llegó muy bien, en tiempo estimado, pero no es el producto que dice ser, ya que llegó sin espuma interior, por lo cual me es inservible para el objetivo profesional con el que lo iba a usar; proteger mi equipo.
