Love this Rain FlyWe took our Rain Fly on its Maiden Voyage to Dark Star Jubilee music festival for a rainy Memorial Day weekend this last year. Instantly we were sooo happy we bought this! Definitely water resistant/waterproof. Absolutely versatile. We used soft clamps to move it around our pop up sun shade. Our next adventure out with this rain fly was to Electric Forest, where is was super hot! The UV blocking and shade was perfect! We were able to sleep in… which is unheard of where we normally sleep at this festival! We may end up buying one more to have as backup, we love it so!

It worksMy hot tub cover doesn’t keep dirt or rain out so this is wonderful.

Great for the moneyVery durable. Not too heavy. Reflective underside. Actually waterproof. Packs small.I use it as a tent shelter and it’s worked very well.Only con is that it needs more tie off points and doesn’t have any ridge line tie offs.Other then that I love this tarp and take it camping often.

Good Quality for the priceGood placement for tie offs. It’s not LIGHT but not crazy heavy. Awesome for new campers/hikers, but it will add weight to the pack

A good valueThere’s no way to tell how this will hold up over the years but it appears well”made. The tie out points are reinforced fairly well. I like that there are a number of tie out points in the sides and center points. The colors are darker than they appear in the photos here. The underside is silvery. Not Mylar. I’ve never seen this sort of fabric. I have not had it in the rain yet. I will post again with an update after some rain experience. Overall it’s a good value when you look at what the more reputable brands like Kelty and so forth are pricing tarps at. It’s not the lightest material out there, for sure, but it seems light enough for anything but ultralight backpacking. The stakes are simple aluminum but they are rugged… not thin little skewers. I was also surprised that the included guy lines are actually good quality. I was planning on throwing those away but they will suffice nicely.UPDATE: Very waterproof. Water beads up on top surface….no dampness below. Just wish that a 12 foot width was available.UPDATE AUG 2010:. Love these tarps have four now…one has been up since January 2022 in snow climate two have been up all summer. Will they last five years like this? Probably not. Will they last ten years if you go on a few trips a year? For sure. The 10×13 also has tie-out points on two sides. In other words, if you hang the tarp on the ridge, and look at it from above, there’s a tie-out point on the left side of the ridge and on the right side. Seams are well-sealed and do not leak. For $40, it’s a fantastic value. I replace the stakes with extruded aluminum ones…. stronger. But the guy lines they give you are really good. I do wish they had a 12×12 but that means using fabric that’s 6′ wide….and that’s not as inexpensive as using 5′ goods.

Hard not to give 5 starsIt’s everything they claim and really good quality. There are other more expensive options but value for price…this is it.

keeps you dry in your hammockI took this tarp on a solo weekend tent camping trip. It was a very rainy weekend.I bought this because I knew I needed an additional shelter while camping, a part from my tent. I wanted to setup my hammock at my site and I wanted cover from the sun and rain.pros:-lightweight-comes with guy lines, stakes-plenty of grommets. Grommets also have loops.-there’s a reflective material on one side that, used during the night, can keep in more heat.-at the very least water resistant, but I’d wager it’s water proofcons- guy lines are finicky to use. The sliders are cheap and difficult to move up the line.-stakes are cheap. I was able to bang them into rocky, hard ground with a rubber mallet but I’m afraid they won’t last long.nuetral–not the easiest to pack away, but is definitely doable.-not loops or grommets on the interior of the outer side of the tarp. In case you wanted to set up in the andirondack configuration.this is a great buy for the money. Can’t comment on the durability because I only used it once, but the water resistance is top notch. I set it up over my hammock and slept outside in it overnight. That night, there was a downpour and I stayed bone dry the entire night. It also dries quickly/ easily.

4 stars ExcellentIt is fairly strong, moderataly lightweight material covering large space and water resistant. This is my 2nd one, first one I had strung up pretty hard in an open position and subjected to a strong winds, gusts and rain. It broke eventually, but it severed its purpose for a while. Given the space it covered 16m2 and the conditions it got subjected for 6 weeks. I am moderately satisfied that it would work in more sheltered wooded area, or in less gusty environment for prolonged time. And would account itself well in most weather conditions for short time.I got another one, and using it as temporary cover, here and there, so far its ok, but I knownits limits now, henceforth i know what to expect.Overall excellent product.4 stars only because i once owned a slightly smaller cover that traveled with me over many adventures and survived much the weather could throw at us. For life of me I do not remember the name or the company now, but I know that there is this gem somewhere that I would love to buy again 🙂

Silver side up for the summer.Fantastic all-purpose camping tarp. This summer has been really hot in the UK. I have used this many times with many different tents to cover the main tent and form a little shaded area. Silver side up to reflect the sun. It makes a huge difference. Looking forward to some winter camping and trying it silver side down. Really strong, well made, loads of tie-on points. Brilliant in every way and 100 times better than the cheaper tarps I have had in the past. Doesn’t come with poles, so grab a set of adjustable poles if you are going to use it without trees.
